#51 –A Conversation with Marie Owens

Musician, Teacher and Missionary Mom!

Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast Episode 51!

I HAD NEVER MET MARIE OWNES BEFORE THIS SHOW. :) I'm not kidding.

But, that's no reason to not be curious and thoughtful about this person's life. See, we have something in common: We're both Missionary Moms!

She was raised in Oklahoma, and currently lives in Arizona with her husband and their 5 children. She has a master’s degree in music, with emphasis on piano and viola. She has been a seminary teacher, and is currently teaching institute. She loves learning new things, creating good music, cooking and baking for others, spending time in the mountains, and traveling and exploring new places.

She has twin daughter's out serving right now. One is in Paraguay, and the other arrived in Uruguay a few weeks ago, after having spent half her mission in her reassignment of Arkansas and Missouri. Though very hard to leave 'her mission,' she went to Uruguay with faith, and has been received with tremendous amounts of love---as are all missionaries right now, since the country recently opened up to missionaries. Her twins are so happy to be back in the same hemisphere!

Marie served a mission in Dallas, and her husband served in England. She is one of 8 children, who all served missions, including the 4 girls. Her grandparents were called to serve in New Zealand before they were even married, or engaged! They left Idaho for SLC, where they were sealed in the temple, then headed off to NZ for 3 years.

Needless to say, missionary work is very much a part of her DNA. :)

#50 –Brad Haralson - A Missionary's Story

Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast Episode 50! (O.o)

Oh my crap, I've done FIFTY EPISODES! FIFTY!

And, it's only fitting that I should have such an amazing person as Brad as my 50th guest!

Brad is such a great guy! :) He served a mission in the same place my son is currently serving, (Bogota, Columbia).

It warms my heart to hear Brad's story of walking down the same streets my son walks down, and giving the same sort of effort my son gives to share the messages of Jesus Christ with our brothers and sisters in Columbia.

There were Mommy tears; not gonna lie.

Brad was born and raised in Palmdale, California. After graduating high school, he lived in Bogota, Colombia for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon returning home, he enrolled in Southern Utah University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Spanish. He will be finishing his master’s degree from SUU at the end of this year.

Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast Episode 44!

My friend Becky is a survivor, like me. She endured said abuse in her formative years at the hands of an educator.

However, what we want to focus on is that she is more than the abuse she endured. She's a survivor, she is HOTNESS, and her story will amaze you! She's now a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern with White Peaks Therapy!

In her own words:

I used to believe that people had to overcome their challenges before they could find peace. Now I know that as we work on creating peace, we are able to overcome our most difficult challenges. As we work together, my goal is to help you find peace, hope, and transformation in your personal life and your choicest relationships.

I help individuals, couples, and families to shift the difficult patterns that may be contributing to their problems, and build healthy relationships with self and others. I believe that even our most frustrating actions make sense when we understand why we do them, and that it’s never too late to create a happier life.

When working with individuals, I help people heal from longstanding obstacles, as well as recognize and meet their fundamental emotional needs. I help couples and families work collaboratively to change dysfunctional relational patterns, and find greater connection in these important relationships. Together, let’s work to support a happier, more fulfilling present and future.

I enjoy helping people work through relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, addiction, life transitions, grief, communication, and improving emotional connections. I’m especially passionate about working with all facets of trauma, for individuals and within relationships.
